I offer in the piggy bank of knowledge a small overview of the Chinese 1TB SSD from the Chinese company KingSpec. Those who are too lazy to read everything - the drive is frankly budget, there are not enough stars from the sky, but it works.
Background to the purchase: In the old but good laptop, the hard drive began to slowly crumble. Thinking, I decided to replace it immediately on the SSD, and since it took more than 700GB to transfer, then this determined the volume of the future disk - 1TB (there is a theory of 750GB SSD in theory, but as can be seen only in the Red Book).
At the time of purchase (early September 2018) wasthe choice is to take something decent from the brands on Amazon, for about $ 160-170 plus shipping $ 15, or from the Chinese comrades for about $ 150. Unfortunately, the toad won, and the KingSpec Official Store was ordered "KingSpec 1TB 2.5 sata III 6GB / S SATA3 SSD 120GB 240GB 480GB SSD Hard Disk HDD hard drive for computer".

Delivery, unpackingThe seller within two daysshipped the shipment of AliExpress Standard Shipping i.e. through the Post of Russia, and after two weeks she was with me. The usual yellow bag with pimples inside hid such a thin cardboard box:
Fortunately, in the process of transportation did not hurt anything, the box is almost intact.
Inside, in a thin plastic form, the SSD itself, occupying only half of the box:
Aluminum housing, which is rare and still a definite plus in terms of cooling. The lid keeps on the similarity of latches (actually on friction), so it is easy to open the case.
Inside a small board
Soldering like anything, did not notice the flux. The board is held on three screws. On the other hand, the main chips: the Maxio MAS0902A controller and two Micron flash memory chips:
It can be seen that space is left for two more memory chips - backlog for a 2TB drive.
The controller is used the simplest, without DRAM-cache, information about it is minimum. Large and detailed review of this drive on overclockers (Intel flash memory was used there, by the way) asserts that it is a clone of the Maxiotek MK8115 budget controller. Products webpage controller is laconic, except for the press release, there is nothing. If you search for the Maxio MAS0902A model, then in the news there is a press release about the first ADATA drive on QLC flash memory, which is built on this controller.
With memory chips, everything is not much better. FBGA code piercing on Micron site gives the product labeling MT29E6T08ETHBBM5-3:B, the search for detailed characteristics of which did not lead me to a satisfactory result. Only sellers are located, and even then most of the chips are gone. It is clear that this is a 6Tbit (768GB x 8) 333MHz TLC chip. In addition, I met a mention that the chip is no longer being produced (End of life), so KingSpec came across some old stocks, or even a second hand or a rejection (see the strange band on the top memory chip). This is supported by a giant reserve in capacity - two 768GB chips yield 1.5TB, so part of the cells from the backup polter-byte is likely to be out of order, or there is a suspicion that this reserve will be left for that.
S.M.A.R.T. and tests Immediately after buying the tests, I almost did not; Hurried to transfer data. Then somehow the hands did not reach, I returned to the tests only recently.
CrystalDiskInfo after two months of use. For some reason, host records and host readings from F1 / F2 attributes are not picked up and deciphered:
CrystalDiskMark on an empty disk. For comparison, on the right, the results of the old 75% full Crucial BX100 three years ago:
The speed is almost the same. But in HDTune there is a difference in the transfer. On the left - the review hero already filled in (on the chart you can see where the empty space begins), on the right again the BX100
I did not do tests for recording, because The disk is now constantly in operation.
In general, this drive has only two advantages -price and metal case. The disadvantages are a simple, obviously slow controller, a suspiciously large supply of capacity, and why should I curse my soul - a kind of lottery about potential problems with quality and the complete lack of a guarantee.
And at the moment on Amazon are soldterabyte SanDisk SSD Plus for $ 125 without delivery, and the price of the hero of the review at the time of his writing has gradually gone down from about $ 120 to about $ 118, which hints at the current trend. In the current situation of falling prices for flash memory, if there is no urgent need, it is not worth buying SSDs at all, and if it is done right, it is better to take a brand like Samsung or SanDisk for a promotion.
Thanks for attention.
