I ordered a tanto not for myself, but I will still review the product and share my opinion ...
In short - worth the money
Some facts about tantто and what they eat
Tanto (Jap. 短刀 Tanto:?, Lit. “short sword”) is a samurai dagger.
"Tang that" for the Japanese sounds like a phrase, because they do not perceive tanto as just a knife (Japanese knife - jamon (jap. Ам 物 hamono?)).
Tanto has a one-sided, sometimes double-edgedblade length from 15 to 30.3 cm (that is, less than one shaku). If the length of the blade is longer, then this is a short Wakizashi sword. Tanto should be made of sponge iron (tamahahane) and have a characteristic jamon, a removable handle attached to the shank with bamboo sticks, and a removable round guard - tsuba.
Tanto was used only as an auxiliarya weapon (for cutting heads, harakiri, etc.) and never like a knife - for this there existed a small clag knife (often incorrectly called kozuka, although kozuka is just his grip) worn in a pair of tanto or wakizashi in the special grooves of their sheaths. Tanto was used mostly by samurai, but it was worn both by doctors and merchants as a weapon of self-defense. Women of high society sometimes also wore little tanto (called kaiken), hidden in obi (kimono belt) for self-defense. In addition, the tanto is still used in the wedding ceremony of members of the imperial family.
I do not know why it took this weapon to a friend, did not go into details because he often orders a variety of weapons from Aliexpress.
The parcel reached China Post in 22 days, without any problems passed the customs clearance in 4 minutes (I do not guarantee that any customs will miss, although knowing our customs ...)
Tanto came in a thick leather holster with a slit for the belt and wrapped in a solid three-meter pimple film.
Blade material: stainless steel grade 440,The strength of 56HRC is declared. I don’t know so, there is no way to check it at home. The total length of 36cm, blade length 22cm, thickness - 0.5 cm. It looks very solid and very tangible in hand. The handle is polished and varnished.
A lot of photos
Workmanship is not the highest score, but quite tolerable for such a cost. I think it would be a good gift for a Kneifoman home collection
That's all there is nothing more to say, ask any questions.
