Bluboo D6 smartphone review - Do not believe the characteristics or What a fake dual camera looks like (disassembly)

This is a review of a budget Chinese smartphone with,let's say, well-known to all the processor. Considering the cost of a smartphone, its characteristics seem to me to be very reasonable in places, but there are always pitfalls that you can read about by clicking on the name of the review.

Why did I choose Bluboo? I am interested in those devices that I did not hold in my hands before, and lately I decided to get acquainted with as many manufacturers as possible. Among them were ASUS, Meizu, Alcatel, Jinga, and even Dexp, or, say, exotic Intex (not a mattress). But I did not have Bluboo, that's the whole reason.
Returning to the pitfalls, I will mention that they were found in considerable quantities on the first day of testing. But let's get everything in order.

At the time of writing, the Bluboo D6 cost about 4,000 rubles, and I purchased it on November 11, 2018 for 3,700, using the $ 5 coupon I got.
I know that in the summer of 2018 some customers were lucky enough to buy a smartphone for $ 5.99. Such actions sometimes pass, and this is not a hoax, however, you need to still have time to buy a smartphone at that price.
3. Accessories
If you believe Aliexpress, then for Bluboo D6 nowYou can buy a touchscreen and a display (matrix), as well as a calling speaker. This is not counting the various covers, films and glass. The choice is not bad, I don’t see the batteries on sale yet.
4. Package
In a dense cardboard box were the following items:

I also note that on the smartphone, besidesshipping, was also glued protective film. The battery was originally located inside the smartphone, but its contacts were covered with a film, the presence of which does not allow the smartphone to turn on.
The power supply is capable of consistently delivering current to1.12 A - at higher loads, the voltage drops either after some time after the start of the test (up to 1.18 A), or immediately (everything above 1.18 A). For 50 minutes of charging, the smartphone power supply has reached 44 ° C.

The microUSB cable has not the smallest drawdowns at a load of 1 and 2 A (without a cable at a load of 2 A, a voltage of 5.43 V is output). If possible, I will use a higher quality cord.

5. Appearance

First of all, I note that the official dataaffecting the size and weight of the device, significantly reduced by the manufacturer. Apparently for the third-tier Chinese smartphone makers, this is not uncommon, since I have already seen something similar with the Oukitel U22, which they tried to present as light and slender, which it is not.
The diagonal of the display is also less than the stated, butThis is also observed with devices of more well-known companies. You can see the real data at the beginning of the review, or rather in the section “Main technical characteristics”. Such indicators are not exactly due to incorrect measurements - sometimes my data are completely or almost completely coincide with the official ones.

Now compare the size with some other smartphones:

Probably, even from the photo you can see that the smartphonecompact enough - its dimensions are comparable to those of the Xiaomi Redmi 6A, although in fact, not in characteristics, the display of the 6A is smaller than that of the review hero. And the Bluboo D6 is clearly smaller than the ASUS ZC520KL smartphone, which has a 5.2 "display, but with large frames at the top and bottom.
Nothing unusual on the front isDisley rounded on the sides, above which are the earpiece and the front camera. More precisely, as I was told, the black frame is rounded not the display.
The left side is empty, and on the right - the dangling on / off button and volume rocker. Even at the very bottom of the right side there is a hole for hooking the back cover.
Top face - 3.5 mm jack. Below is a microUSB connector, to the right of which there are holes for the speaker, and to the left - the same holes, but for the microphone.

On the back side - supposedly a double camera (I do not believeand I will check), flash and fingerprint scanner, which, in my opinion, is located in a comfortable place for the index finger. The surface of the back cover is slightly rough, pleasant to the touch and completely non-glossy. Red is, of course, an amateur, but I like bright colors, so I have confidence that the device looks nice, despite the budgetary materials. However, looking closer, you can see black specks on the lid, so it is possible that the paint will fade over time. There is also a strip on the edges of the lid, and it does not always go smoothly, but this should be kept an eye out.
The lid crunches quite hard when pressed on it in the upper and lower parts.

The thickness of the plastic back cover - 0.839 mm (measurement sponsor - Shahe micrometer).
The camera, relative to the body, protrudes about 0.99 mm (the same Shahe, only a caliper).
The cover is removed quickly, but with some effort -I have a small fear of breaking the latches, pulling the cover. But with my fingers it is difficult to remove the battery with my fingers - either not fully trimmed strong nails are needed, or you have to pry the battery with various tools.
Under the cover are various card slots, othe size of which I mentioned when describing the characteristics. Therefore, it remains only to write about the fact that without removing the battery, insert the SIM card and memory card will not work, as well as pull them out.

6. Display
Although officially in the smartphone TFT-display (which is indicated on a large number of third-party resources), but good viewing angles say more about the presence of IPS-matrix.

Studies of the screen under a microscope confirm my guesses. The subpixel structure is visible, which is not typical for TFT-TN:

In the Russian market is difficult to find a smartphonefor 4000 rubles, which would be IPS-screen. I do not feel any discomfort from the low resolution, but note that this is only my opinion. Therefore, we turn to more objective indicators.
Display data obtained using the I1 Display Pro Colorimeter:
The maximum brightness of black - 0,300 cd / m².
The maximum white brightness is 424 cd / m² when using a picture with a white background in the center and 327 cd / m² when using pictures that divide the screen equally into a white and black field.
The minimum white brightness is 16 cd / m² and 11 cd / m² (by analogy with the maximum white brightness).
Contrast ratio (divide max. White to max. Black) - 1413: 1 or 1090: 1, depending on the maximum white color.
Frankly, many tests I studiedindependently, collecting information bit by bit on the Internet, and in some moments thinking it out myself. For example, I did the pictures for the display tests myself in Photoshop, given the size of the zones and the color data, and in the HCFR program I had to search for the right items for several days. Therefore, to be sure, I indicate several measurement options - there is an opinion that it is necessary to measure the brightness precisely by the pictures dividing the screen into two fields in order to avoid the work of various enhancements. If you measure the brightness of the image with a white center, then the readings correspond to those indicated by the manufacturer here.
From my own experience I can write aboutIt really makes sense to measure the brightness of the picture dividing the screen, as, for example, in the PCMark application, when calibrating the screen for tests of autonomy, the maximum brightness will correspond to approximately 327 cd / m², and I suspect that all other applications will have the same result.
The minimum brightness is too high - I would be in the darkused the applications blackout the screen. Maximum brightness is enough for a not too bright winter sun (there is no other yet) - the information remains readable. But in which case I will add information.
And one more curious detail. Previously, I tried to measure the brightness of the display using a UNI-T UT383 lux meter, bringing it as close as possible to the display. Surprisingly, after acquiring a colorimeter, I found that the numbers on the instruments were almost the same, but with Bluboo, a completely different story came out. A light meter shows, at best, a figure of 310 when using a picture with a whole center - this is noticeably less than the data that the colorimeter produces, which I have not yet observed when measuring in other smartphones. And in fact, subjectively, there really is a feeling that the brightness is not so high.
The sRGB color gamut at the smartphone is shifted to the right and to the bottom - the values ​​are lower than the standard sRGB triangle.
Most of the gray dots are located either in the radius DeltaE = 10, or near it, therefore only small, probably not noticeable for the eyes, parasitic shades in gray are possible.

The brightness graph slightly exceeds the reference values, and the lines diverge at some stages.

The color range varies from 1.7 to 2.4.

The color chart shows slightly underestimated red values.

The color temperature is in the region of 6750K-7000K.

The main trouble - at the bottom of the darkpictures (and even on white, if you look closely) you can see that the display has light. I can not accurately write whether this problem was originally or appeared only 4 days after receiving the smartphone, when I noticed the problem.
Multitouch is designed for only two touches, andthe time of the test zone of the fingers almost always merge with each other, once they are near. I experienced problems with management only in one game, but more on that later, in the appropriate section.
In general, the impression from the display is not the mostunambiguous. On the one hand, there is a normal contrast, good viewing angles, and there seems to be no problem with maximum brightness, although questions remain about it. On the other hand, there is a poor color adjustment, which is expected from an ultra budget device and a small number of simultaneous touches. The illumination, which, although far from always noticeable, was rather disappointing, but the very fact of its presence does not please. It is possible that this is a small marriage of my device, without which the display could be safely written down into the advantages of the smartphone, as I believe (taking into account the price, of course).
7. Iron, operating system, software and sensors
The good old MT6580 will probably be used as long as there are 3G networks and as long as Android exists, but many jokes already exist on this topic.
If you do not pay attention to the processor, thenThe smartphone is the minimum reasonable amount of memory. We are talking about 16 GB user, of which after the first inclusion available 10.98 GB, which is a good indicator. RAM 2 GB of which can be free about 1.1 GB.
I have no questions about the speed of the interface, but it's better to see it with my own eyes on video.
The operating system was pleased with the absenceextra applications. There are only pre-installed Google services. Is that the search bar from the desktop is not removed, in any case, the simplest method - when you hold your finger on the screen, no reaction follows.
Google Play claims the device is certified. Live wallpapers are supported.

The manufacturer added several functions to the OS.which are indicated in the menu in English (including when Russian is selected as the OS language) is, for example, the function of reassigning the onscreen buttons. In addition, English is found in the screenshot editor and when unlocked by face (if the scan animation is set in the settings). The menu itself, in which you can scan a face to protect and unlock the device, is also in English.
Oh yeah, there is still a function of protecting various files with a graphic key - and its settings are also in English, as is the case with the “mobile anti-thief”.



OS updates for the smartphone to me yetarrived, but on the forums you can find third-party firmware and TWRP mods. But how well or poorly it all works, I do not know, so I will study only the standard operating system.

As for the sensors. The proximity sensor seems to be as it is, as various softphones say. But in fact, there is no separate sensor - it is more likely represented in the smartphone as a program setting, and it feels like to touch the edges of the display during a conversation, as the screen is locked. In general, I do not know exactly how it is implemented, but this method works well.

Fingerprint scanner at bestIt takes 1.36 seconds to fully unlock the device after a finger touch. Only this is not always the case, and sometimes the screen lights up a few seconds later, although the sound indicating successful unlocking sounds much earlier. The response rate is high.
Face unlock often does not work evenWith good lighting, or to unlock takes a long time, sometimes even more than 10 seconds. In the most successful scenario, you can count on unlocking after 3,300 seconds after pressing the on / off button. I recommend adding as many face options as possible to the memory of the smartphone (no more than 5).
For accurate metrics, I write downtests on the video, then opening and viewing frames from the video in the video editor. The error when specifying the time is 0.020 seconds, and it is considered the time to complete unlocking, when the brightness is fully turned on.
8. Glitches and OS issues
Google Play protection from the very beginning revealed in the smartphone a kind of malicious application called the font manager. Subsequently, this software was automatically removed.

I’ll also mention whether it’s a glitch or a feature. After each power-up, the device can unlock the device using a face, although, for example, on Neffos C9 it is necessary to enter the password, and there is no other option.
9. Communication
Single-band Wi-Fi well captures the signal, as well as everything and the download speed.

I did not find any problems with connection quality. Interlocutors hear me, and I hear them.
The volume of the main speaker from a distance of 50 cm. is 86.8 dBa. However, this test should not be considered seriously, as the sound level meter was used in conditions far from the laboratory. The speaker is average in volume, and at the maximum level, wheezing and sound distortion are heard.

Vibration is weak, so you can skip the call.

10. Cameras and flash
All cameras in the smartphone are interpolated, that is, withsoftware increased number of megapixels. The quality of photos is always negatively affected, but this is not the main question. How real is the second main camera module? It is claimed that it is five-megapixel, but at the same time, when the MT6739 processor was introduced to the world, the manufacturer promised support for additional modules with a resolution of no more than 0.3 MP. Therefore, there are big doubts that the MT6580 generally supports at least some dual cameras.
But I will give the smartphone a chance - I tried to closefinger optional module for various shooting options, including in bokeh mode. The device did not react to this and still continued to shoot. But this still proves nothing - at least for some smartphones with a real dual camera, this behavior is typical. In the bokeh mode, by the way, in all cases the edges of the photo are blurred in such a way that not a blurred circle is formed in the center, which also indicates that the add. module is not real. Here, it seems, there can already be no doubt, but in addition, closer to the end of the review, I will still understand the device.
The quality of photos leaves much to be desired -pleases only the presence of autofocus. However, in photographs objects are often out of focus, depending on whether I was shooting from close range or from a distance.

There is a lot of noise in the photographs; you can finally be sure of this by looking at the crop (increase of 100%).

Plus, photos are often takenvertical orientation, as in the examples below. Yes, the photos can then be easily deployed, but why would anyone need these extra actions? In general, if you want to get at least some decent shot, it is better to make at least 5 attempts. Only now, even with good lighting, high-quality images do not have to wait.

Video to the main camera, an example of whichlocated just below, recorded with a low frame rate, from 9 to 14 FPS. Noises at not the brightest light abound, but I did not find obvious problems with manual focusing, as in the photographs. Human speech, in my opinion, is clearly audible.
In the dark, the number of frames is kept at around 12.

Front camera quality is not better than the main one -still pictures are often blurry, especially in low light. Beauty mode only exacerbates the situation, although the lips become redder, and the face is deprived of some shortcomings.
When recording video to the front camera in the room, you can count on 14 FPS.

The flash as a flashlight gives 58 lux from a distance of 50 cm, which is a little if you turn to flash comparison table (reference to helpix). Up close, however, to highlight something completely turns out. At a distance of 180 cm. My luxmeter shows 0.
But the photos are lit poorly, which is why it is difficult to see anything.

11. Navigation
When the GPS Test application was first launched, the smartphone immediately detected the satellites, but began to work fully with them only after about two minutes.

Only GPS satellites are supported, traditionally for the MT6580 processor, which did not please me. Just GLONASS I recently managed to find, even in a much cheaper Dexp A140.
Judging by the GPS-tracks, the smartphone can not always boast accurate positioning, and sometimes there are losses of satellites. Below are examples of tracks with the sim card turned off and on.

When the smartphone was stationary,then my location changed a little in different directions. Therefore, the smartphone is not very suitable for recording GPS tracks, because there will be a lot of ugly lines on the map. I have not yet encountered such a problem on devices with a Snapdragon processor, but for MediaTek, this phenomenon is not uncommon.
12. Battery and running time
Battery capacity testing has been happening withusing the electronic load EBC-A10 and the method of the user Kirich, who is probably well known to all that often read reviews on Muska. I will not describe all the details of testing - you will find all the necessary information in the Kirich reviews, but I will be happy to answer possible questions.

Having discharged the battery in the smartphone until the device was turned off, I connected the battery to the EBC-A10, holding it for about a minute under a load of 540 mAh or 0.2C. In the end, I received a figure of 3,337 V.
Then I put the battery in my smartphone again,charging it completely. At this stage, everything was not as easy as I expected, but more on that below. The charged battery is again connected to the load, gradually discharging the smartphone with the same current of 0.2 ° C. Here's what I got:
1. Capacity used by the smartphone - 2379 mAh. These are data at a discharge to 3,34 V.
2. When discharging to 3 V, another 70 mAh was spent.
3. Discharge to 2.8 V gave another 15 mAh.

Thus, the total battery capacity was2464 mAh is 92.25% of the capacity indicated on the battery (2700 mAh). The smartphone uses 96.55% of the total battery capacity. In general, the results are grieving. Perhaps, the smartphone is still not fully charged?
Check the charging time of the smartphone in the off state:
30 minutes - 27%
1 hour - 52%
1 hour 30 minutes - 68%
2 hours - 85%
2 hours 30 minutes - 100%.
3 hours 8 minutes - the device stopped charging.
This is interesting data. Despite the fact that the smartphone at some point shows 100% charge, in fact, it stops charging much later. This observation concerns the situation when the smartphone is turned off, but when the device is turned on, the number of oddities only increased. The device stops charging when the charge indicator reaches 100%, but after that you turn off the smartphone, as charging continues again.
Still, if at 100% charge off, and then hereIf you turn on the smartphone, then on the screen you can already find a figure of 97%, which only adds questions. Or another example. When the smartphone is on, the percentage indicator shows 56 percent of the charge, but if you turn off the device, the figure will change to 16%. And this does not always happen - most often the numbers are the same.
The charge most of the time occurs in jumps,as shown in the graph below. By the way, does anyone know what these races are talking about? Simply, there are smartphones that charge straight, without periodic resetting the voltage and current.

Maximum current during charging: 1.0119 A.
When the device is turned on, 100% of the charge is displayed2 hours 39 minutes after the start of charging, but it fully charged after 3 hours and 16 minutes. After a full charge, the smartphone continues to consume a current of 0.15 A, and it does not matter whether it is turned off or on.

And now about the time of work in various modes. Most of the tests were carried out with a screen brightness set to 150 cd / m2 (with pure white this is 44% brightness) and a headphone sound set to 7 divisions out of 15. In the smartphone, one SIM card worked with 3G and Wi-Fi was turned on ( when required and unless otherwise noted).
Navigate to Osmand +: 8 hours 35 minutes.
White screen 100% (application Screen test, flight mode): 6 hours 23 minutes.
White screen 0% (application Screen test, flight mode): 20 hours 32 minutes.
Surfing in Dolphin Browser via Wi-Fi (auto update pages every 15 seconds): 7 hours 35 minutes.
24 hours standby (with very rare screen turns): spent 32 percent of the charge.
HD video in MX player: 5 hours and 20 minutes.
Watching video in a mobile application youtube (Wi-Fi, 480p. For the test I chose this video): 4 hours 47 minutes.
A telephone conversation on a 3G network with a locked screen: for 5 hours of conversations, 11% of the charge was spent.

For tests of autonomy, you had to turn off the smartphone to fully charge it.
The test results in GeekBench 4 show that the discharge graph is not uniform - the percentage indicator is delayed by 1% of the charge.
The operating time was not impressed with the expected, but for one day the charge can be stretched, if you do not turn on the backlight to the maximum level.
13. Heating
After 30 minutes of passing the game GTA: VC, according to the imager, the case heats up to 38 degrees at room temperature of 23.1 degrees Celsius. The pyrometer produces more frightening figures - about 47 degrees near the place where the camera is located. In fact, the smartphone really feels warm, but not hot. Tactile the warmest place is near the fingerprint scanner.

And why didn't the manufacturer stick heat-insulating material to the cover?
Later, I also checked the smartphone with a thermal imager, whenThe hero of the review was wearing a complete bumper, and the temperature rose to 41 degrees Celsius. True, the temperature in the room was already exactly 25 degrees, but I do not exclude the influence of some other factors unknown to me that influenced the increase in temperature.
14. Sound in headphones
The sound was tested using the RightMark Audio Analyzer program and the Sound BlasterX G5 sound card connected to the smartphone via a 3.5 mm cable.

This data is without load, that is, without headphones, the connection of which usually worsens the results. Some more budget smartphones have better performance than, for example, the Dexp A140.
Subjectively, when using a headsetAudio-Technica ath-ckx7is, I do not observe volume reserve. However, the sound is not quiet, although in terms of quality it lacks something. My verdict is quite primitive - you can listen to music.

15. Games, videos and more
The smartphone is surprisingly well coped withmost though old but hard games. When I tested smartphones on a more recent MT6739 processor, the number of frames per second when passing games was much lower. In the case of the hero of the review, you can count on the maximum graphics in most games, although sometimes it makes sense to reduce the settings to get a smooth picture.
On the other hand, new toys like PUBG and Asphalt 9, apparently, do not work. In any case, without the use of various manipulations using third-party software.

GTA: VC: everything is good at maximum settings. Only occasionally there are falling frames, leading to the brakes. I had similar problems after the 20th game - throttling is or just some kind of difficult game scene, I can’t write for sure.
Asphalt 8: an average of 19 FPS at maximum settings, but sometimes drawdowns of up to 13 frames occur. You can play, but it is better to lower the level of graphics.
GTA: SA: it makes sense to reduce the settings without setting a maximum at each point. An average of 18 FPS at maximum capacity, with periodic brakes in some scenes.
PUBG Mobile: Missing in Google Play search.

I will summarize, perhaps, all the listed points. Bluboo D6 - a strange smartphone. For some reason, he doesn’t want to be charged to the end, while misleading the user with the displayed charge percentage. Its second module of the main camera is a design element, and the battery does not match the declared capacity. Yes, and our hero's face review ̶sl̶i̶sh̶k̶o̶m̶ ̶t̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶̶ recognizes slowly and not in all cases.
In this case, the device will fit for heavy games, provided that these games are not new. Bluboo also boasts an IPS-display with good viewing angles.
Bluboo D6 could be a good ultrabudgetaryApparatus, and, perhaps, most users will never even know about some of the disadvantages I described, but I, fortunately, found out everything. And any noticed deception inevitably spoils the impressions of both the device and the manufacturer. Bluboo, don't do this anymore, please.
My rating is 4 points out of 10. Perhaps some problems are characteristic only for my copy, and I tried to find out on the w3bsit3-dns.com forum, but did not receive any answers.
