Good day friends! I hope everyone has let go of the wave with endless promotions and sales, and now you can read something at your leisure. Today I will tell you about the IP camera YI 1080P Dome Camera. This camera shoots FullHD at 20 fps, has the ability to upload the received video to its cloud (if there is a paid subscription) or save to microSD, as well as a wide viewing angle of 112 °, infrared illumination, tracking movement in the room, control from a PC and babysitting radio function. The focal length of the lens is 2.6 mm, the number of infrared LEDs is 8 pieces with 940 nm. Interested in asking for a cut!
This manufacturer Yi Technology, familiar to everyoneas the very first partner of Xiaomi to develop an Yi action camera and then a home IP camera and a car DVR. But the year before last, the company decided to separate and start producing products under its own name, after which they released cheap, but high-quality Yi 4K Action Camera and Yi 4K Plus cameras. A further response from Xiaomi was not long in coming and they all took goods under the Yi brand from their store. Now we are faced with pure Yi products, without any hint of Xiaomi. And Xiaomi themselves began to release their devices under the name Mijia.
The parcel came from the Russian warehouse in Moscow inmy city in a record 2 days. I have not seen such an operational delivery. The only negative, judging by the reviews with Ali, many have dented boxes. Apparently, the PR itself accepts the goods in Moscow. But I got an almost crumpled package, except for a jam in one place.
The front and side are made transparent, on the back of the characteristics. A QR code will allow you to download the application to your phone.
On the upper and lower sides are branded stickers, so that no one would open this package.
The package for the camera is quite extensive and includes:
• YI 1080p Dome Camera
• ceiling mount
• set of dowels and screws
• USB-microUSB cable
• warranty card
• multilingual instruction
Of course, I would like to say that everything is done in the best traditions of Xiaomi, but no. Yi makes no less quality products. What is the instruction with the presence of 9 languages, including Russian.
To power the camera, a charger with a cable is provided. The length of the latter is large enough and is - 2 meters. The charger is capable of delivering 5V / 1A, the plug is European.
The camera itself exists in two colors and thiswhite and black. I have on the test a light version of the YI 1080p Dome. The overall dimensions of the camera are small and make up 93mm * 110mm. The weight of the camera is 230g. The case with the ability to rotate 360 °, but then rests. The camera does not make sound when turning, but when switching to infrared LEDs and back, a slight click is made.
The full specifications of the camera are as follows:
• Height: 110 mm
• Upper diameter: 64 mm
• Base diameter: 93 mm
• Weight: 230 g (net weight)
• Viewing angle: 112 °
• Resolution: 1080P, H.264 encoding
• Night vision: 8 built-in 940 nm (non-invasive) infrared LEDs.
• Focal length: 2.6 mm
• Memory slot: Yes, MicroSD Card (class 4 and above, from 4 GB to 32 GB)
• Mounting: Vertical, wall mounted, to the ceiling
• Operating humidity: 80%
• Operating temperature: 32 ~ 122 ℉
• Connection: WiFi 2.4 GHz
• Power: DC5V-1A
• Supported platforms: iOS 7.0 or Android 4.0 and newer versions
The camera body is made of matte plastic withmirror "ball" at the top. In the center of the ball is the camera lens. How much I did not try to disassemble the case, all in vain. The upper part breaks a little, but the bottom remains motionless.
Inside the camera is arranged as follows:
In the lower part, so to speak stand, are the main elements:
• device operation indicator
• microphone (windows on both sides)
• speaker (windows on both sides)
• reset button
• microUSB power connector
• microSD memory card slot
The bottom view is quite simple and includesa sticker with the model, year of manufacture, as well as the serial number of the device. From the sticker you can find out about the maximum consumption of 4W. Also below is a seat for ceiling or wall mount.
Visual demonstration of the indicator. Flashes blue when the device is connected to a WiFi network, orange when there is no network.
To connect the camera to a wireless network, as wellto attach to the application, you need to download the application. You can do this through the QR code on the box, or find it in the search for the application store - Yi Home. After downloading, the main menu of the application opens in front of us, into which you need to add our device. After choosing the necessary device, we are waiting for a response from the camera itself, it should speak and say the phrase - Waiting to connect.
Then you need to make friends with herwireless network. After entering the password and the name of the WiFi network, we go to the final part and show the QR code from the application in the camera’s field of view. After all the procedures, an inscription appears indicating that the camera was successfully linked, and we are also offered to enter the device name and subscribe to the cloud service.
It is necessary to save all the importantvideos in the cloud. Suppose if someone tries to get into your house, you will receive a notification of activity on the phone, as well as a video in a separate storage. But there is one catch, the subscription is paid and it costs a lot, as much as 180 € per year or 35.88 € per month. But if you are not ready to pay, then you can unsubscribe, fortunately with a memory card installed, all the records are saved to it, but again there will be no backup in case of anything.
After skipping the subscription menu, we get toapplication home screen. The lower bar allows you to select the current viewing mode: camera, notifications, cloud storage, YI product store on Amazon and user profile. At the top of the main screen is a window with a preview of the last image received from the camera. Under the camera settings window, notifications from it and a subscription to the cloud service. Also from this desktop, you can "share" control with other users and add other devices. At the same time, the setting for choosing image quality or resolution is completely absent. The maximum traffic consumption when viewing a remote image is MAX 151KB / s when choosing HD pictures and MAX 84KB / s when choosing SD. For the convenience of controlling the camera, a joystick is provided if you want to check a specific place in the room. There is also a 4x digital zoom and the ability to remotely listen to all the sounds surrounding this camera and transmit your own messages from the built-in speaker.
Actually, this is how the menu for transferring powers to other people looks.
Camera settings allow you to set the following parameters:
• Correction of lens distortion - you can remove the pillow or barrel from the resulting image.
• Camera microphone - enabling it allowsthe camera to catch the crying of the child and send a signal to the smartphone. Previously, we had to download a separate application on the phone and leave the second next to the crib. Here is the finished device.
• Night illumination - if you wish, you can turn off annoying clicking when switching to IR diodes.
• Motion sensor - allows you to enable thissensor, as well as configure intelligent recognition: recognition and sensitivity of movement, the frequency of alerts and the schedule of these modes. That is, you can set only evening time. You can also set an automatic cruise and set a viewing angle for it and a specific time. Suppose if you installed the camera in the corner of the room, then with markers in the main menu you can mark the extreme positions that the camera will not go beyond when using the cruise and in general.
• My Yi Cloud - checking the status of subscription activity, payment history and setting up video upload to the cloud service.
• WiFi connection test - checking the network connection speed, tracking the number of packets sent and received.
• Notifications - settings for displaying notifications on the phone. When activity is detected, the camera notifies about it and shows the total time.
If desired, you can also control the camera using the application on Windows. In the menu, you can also subscribe to the cloud storage and choose the location to save the received videos.
Let's move on to the size of the received files from the camera. When setting SD quality, the final picture has a resolution of 640 * 368 and weight of 155 KB. With HD quality, the weight increases significantly and becomes equal to 1.1MB. But night shooting adds more weight and exceeds 2.4MB. The file size from the camera in which the microSD card is installed is 9.5 MB with 1 minute of recording.
An example of the received video in HD quality and using the built-in microphone can be found below. And an example of night shooting can be seen here.
Based on the results of the entire review, I would do the following. For the amount that the manufacturer asks for, we get a pretty high-quality device and an acceptable picture, even at night. Of course, I would like to have at least 24 frames per second already in 2018, but the camera seems to be from the past, as it was announced in 2016. Although the same Xiaomi Dafang 1080P presented in 2017 has only 15k / s on its board, and the Xiaomi Aqara IP Camera 1080p also presented in 2017 has 12k / s in general. The biggest minus for me in this camera is the non-removable YI logo in the lower left corner.
UPD. After a week of operation, an extraneous sound of the motor appeared during a turn. The camera did not receive mechanical damage. This noise is clearly audible in the video.
UPD_2. It doesn’t seem to work with Nas, but it’s possible to install third-party firmware.
