New electronic load HD35 from RD, differentfrom the LD25 / 35 models by the presence of a built-in trigger for testing fast charges, and this may interest fans to test charges and banks
The original package was packed from RD in a foam box, but inside there was a plastic box, in which lies the HD35, the same LD25 was sent to me just wrapped in cellophane
As in the electronic loads of the LD-series, the new USB-A, MicroUSB and Type-C ports
Power load 35W, adjustment occurs withusing a tuning resistor with a tuning step of 0.01A. The display shows current, voltage, power, operating modes and errors. In general, everything is as it was in the old series, the differences begin in the number of control buttons, except for the standard "SET" and "OK", there is a new button "Trigger", which is responsible for controlling the trigger and three LEDs in red QC2.0, blue QC3 .0 and green (Huawei FCP and Samsung AFC 9V), there is no PD support in this model.
The LED indicator remained with the same red, not very well perceived illumination of the segments (the tint film will save).
There was also no added protection for the rear side of the board with plexiglass.
Compared to LD25
The fan is attached to the radiator with two bolts and is not marked on the back, it is stated that it can spin up to 8000 (± 10%) revolutions per minute.
According to the statement, there is an intelligent mode and, inunlike HD25, declared hydraulic bearing. The fan starts when the power reaches 10W or the device temperature is more than 40 degrees, while the fan speed itself is continuously adjustable
If you need instructions, but without it, for example,it was difficult to figure out a rather confused control, then having scanned the QR code on the fan, you can download it, but it turned out that the instructions in Chinese had to use a funny machine translation of the instructions from the seller’s sale page. Maybe later the seller will add a pdf in English.
The control principle has moved from the LD series:
- The “OK” button performs the same function as“ON / OFF” on the LD series, first, with a long press, the start mode changes. If, while holding on the display, the inscription ON briefly appears, then when the load is connected, it will start automatically with the current value set during the last use. Having pressed the button for a long time, we will see the OFF value on the screen and when connected to a current source, we will see the current value blinking on the display, then we can set the value we need with a tuning resistor and briefly press the OK button to turn on the load.
- A short press of the “SET” button toggles in a circle on the display the current Current - A, Voltage - V and Power - P.
By long pressing “SET” occursswitching of output modes when overload protection is triggered (if the value on the screen is ON, the load starts again, when OFF, confirm the start by pressing the "OK" button).
When high current protection trips, OPP is displayed on the screen.
When overheating is above 80 degrees, OTP is displayed,
At high voltage above 25-30V, OVP is displayed
New fast charge trigger mode:
A long press on the “Trigger” button turns on the mode, the red QC2.0 LED lights up.
A short press again switches in a circle: to the green LED (QC3.0), blue (FCP / AFC) and all three LEDs (AUTO)
When entering QC2 mode.0 -05.0¸ is displayed on the screen, which indicates a voltage of 5V, with a short double press of the OK button (there may be a three-second delay when the mode is turned on, we don’t get nervous and just wait), the red LED starts flashing, and then by pressing the OK and SET ”you can manually set the voltage with fixed parameters 5V, 9V, 12V and 20V.
When entering QC3 mode.0 trigger: -05.0 is displayed on the screen with a short double press of the OK button, the green LED starts flashing, and then by pressing the OK and SET buttons you can manually set the voltage in steps of 0.2V
When entering FCP / AFC mode: AFC9 (charging mode for Samsung phones) is displayed on the screen with a short double press of the OK button, the blue LED starts flashing, and then by pressing the OK and SET buttons you can switch to FCP9 mode (charging mode for phones from Huawei)
In all of these modes you can adjustwith a tuning resistor, the current strength, and to see its value on the screen, you need to hold down the trigger button for a few seconds, to return back to showing the voltage values, you need to hold down the button again for a few seconds
When entering auto mode, all three light upLED and AUTO appears, then briefly pressing the OK button we start the test auto mode which lasts about 25 seconds, the running numbers of the changing voltages appear on the display, at the end of the test AUTO is displayed again and the LEDs that correspond to the modes supported by the power supply are lit, then if he can only QC2.0 and QC3.0, then the red and green LEDs will light.
In this mode, there is no current control, and thisthe mode, in comparison with manual adjustment, is declared safe, since the tester includes only supported low-current modes, and there is no risk of harming the power supply (although there will be nothing good for the good unit and it is expensive for it).
Another point - the microUSB port does not supporttrigger mode, so testing MicroUSB cables in fast charging modes will not work, for this you will have to use an intermediary in the form of a usb doctor.
I failed to test for all 5A - noI have such a powerful power supply that can give out these 5A, but at 3.65A the temperature of the transistor did not rise above 45 degrees in 10 minutes of testing.
The review turned out to be more like a dry instruction, but this is what you need first of all when getting acquainted with this device.
This load, thanks to the screen and built-inThe trigger can be used on its own without a usb doctor, although it will not be so convenient because of the simple screen and a little confused control. Does it make sense to buy a 35th model? I don’t think, for me, the 25th will completely cope with my tasks, moreover, it is a little cheaper.
