Greetings, dear. Today I want to present you a review of Onda V891. Budget tablet with 8.9 inch display and Dual OS: Windows 8.1 + Android 4.4.
More under the cut.
Torment of choice
I chose from the following tablets:
- ONDA V820W
- ONDA V891
- Chuwi vi8
- Teclast x80h
I chose the V891 because of the larger diagonal of the display. As for me, the diagonal of 8 inches is "too small" for Windows.
V891 has a brother named V891W. They are similar only to the name and diagonal of the display.
A review of the V891W has already been.
Shipping and Packaging
The store shipped by Singapore post the day after ordering. The package arrived quickly - only 12 days.
The box with the tablet was packed in a large box, wrapped with a "little bubble". Nearby lay a charger and a USB cable.
Options from the manufacturer:
- the tablet
- USB cable
Gifts from the seller:
- charger for 2A
- adapter from Chinese outlets
- red pimple (in which everything was packed)

On the front is an 8.9 inch display. In the lower part in the center is the Windows touch button.

Build quality is 4. There is no back cover for everyday creaking, but there is creaking when twisting. The tablet does not have stiffeners in the form of a metal frame.
Iron / Multimedia
The Onda V891 is based on the Intel Atom Z3735F processor.
This is a typical solution for budget Chinese tablets on Windows. RAM 2 GB, internal memory 32 GB.
In Windows, the disk capacity is 13.4 GB, a little more than 5 GB is available.
After installing the updates, 3360 MB became available.
For Android, 6.95 GB is allocated, 6.2 are available. Everything else is given under system partitions.
Internal memory is divided into 18 disks.
The presence of a microSD slot partially solves the problem of lack of memory.
Realtek RTL8723BS chip is responsible for WIFI and Bluetooth.
Supported WIFI standard b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.0.
The level of reception is normal, no problems have been noticed.
Realtek ALC5640 is responsible for the sound in the tablet.
The speaker is installed alone. Not too loud, the sound quality is average. Windows sounds louder than Android.
Have a microphone. For him there is no hole on the case, but the sensitivity is normal.
Cameras are installed in the tablet: front - 0.3 megapixels, rear - 2 megapixels. No autofocus. I will not give examples of photos. They shoot worse than a phone 10 years ago.
Unfortunately, the tablet does not have a full USB connector. There is only MicroUSB, which is also used for charging. This makes it impossible to work simultaneously with USB devices and charge.
A 5400 mah battery is installed. In sleep mode, self-discharge is not large - in 12 hours the battery ate only 6%. When the power is off, the battery does not eat.
In the video playback mode 1080p (average brightness + turned off WI-FI) lived - about 6 hours.
The motherboard is almost the same as on the V820W and Chuwi Vi8.
There is an unsoldered MicroUSB, themes on Chuwi Vi8 and V820W have examples of the use of this connector.
Under load, the tablet decently warms up in the area of the rear camera. It is advisable to upgrade the cooling system.

Camera module with LED:
The tablet has an 8.9-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800. The picture quality is good. OGS of course not. After phones, even with 1280 x 720 - pixelation is noticeable, but not critical ..
As for me, the resolution of 1280 × 800 for a tablet on Windows fits perfectly. For such a diagonal of 1920x1200, I consider it unnecessary.
Touch screen supports 10 touches
The tablet has 2 operating systems Windows 8.1 and Android 4.4.4.
When you turn on, it is possible to select the OS, for this you need to hold down the volume buttons to the top and power.
From Android, you can switch using the switch in the top curtain.
On Windows, the pre-installed Q2S application is responsible for switching.
In Android 4.4.4, Onda Launcher and some Chinese software are preinstalled.
Almost all of the "Chinese" can be removed without root.
Windows 8.1, version with Bing x86, activated. The key is embedded in the BIOS.
Initially, the Chinese language was installed, although I asked the seller to change to Russian.
Language changed by of this instruction.
Performance in Windows was pleasantly surprised, I expected a slower work.
Suitable for undemanding tasks.
Making friends with the office 365 didn't work out - when I turned it on, I suggested something in Chinese, I did not understand it. If necessary, install a normal pirate office.
I don’t play games. I assume that performance is on par with Chuwi Vi8. For fans to play games on the tablet there is a special topic on w3bsit3-dns.com.
In my copy, the touch screen in the camera area is not completely glued. When used in landscape mode, the finger will fall onto a poorly glued area and a creak is heard.
There is also a matrix light that is visible only on a black background. This is caused by a tightly bolted bolt that holds the motherboard.
Photos of the covenant
Topic on w3bsit3-dns.com a list of possible marriage has been compiled:
- spots on the screen
- blue bar on the screen
- light on the screen.
- poorly glued touch screen near the camera
At the moment, there are 3 versions of the tablet v1, v3 and v5. I have the first version. The above marriage refers to v1.
Advantages and disadvantages:
+ two operating systems
+ honest battery
-Marriage (how lucky)
- no cameras
-incomplete cooling system
no separate power connector
Despite the flaws, I liked the tablet. But do not forget that the price is just a little over $ 100. For the money, it’s not realistic to buy a “brand” analog.
Frustrated only by the presence of marriage. It remains to be hoped that versions V3 and V5 will not be there.
I will not recommend it, everyone will decide for himself whether the tablet is worthy of a purchase or not.
